Junkyard Universe is born out of producer and screenwriter Lani-rain Feltham’s collaboration with some of Aotearoa’s most distinctive filmmakers. From working with award-winning director Vincent Ward across a range of artistic pursuits, she went on to collaborate with friends to make a handful of ambitious shorts. Junkyard Universe then produced two feature projects with celebrated cult filmmaker Florian Habicht; Spookers, a co-production with Madman Australia; and the surprise local hit James & Isey about a kuia from the Far North turning 100. 

Junkyard Universe has been fortunate to be supported by the New Zealand Film Commission to develop a slate of dynamic feature film projects. Our focus is on working with unique talent and strong market partners to make projects that pair riveting and authentic storytelling with exceptional artistic vision.
